Jungle Prada Homes for Sale and Area Info
An Historic and Tranquil Neighborhood
Jungle Prada is an historic neighborhood located in the southwestern portion of the peninsula that forms the city of St. Petersburg. It is bordered on the west by Boca Ciega Bay, on the north by 22 Ave. N, on the east by Robinson Dr. N., and on the south by 5th. Ave. N. Jungle Prada and The Park Street area blend into one another. The area is historically significant. A placard marks the spot where it is believed Spanish Conquistador Panfilo de Narvaez landed and began the first European exploration of the Tampa Bay area. The indigenous Tocobaga Indians built burial mounds predating the de Naravez landing by thousands of years. Some of these can still be found at the Jungle Prada Park. The area is a designated US Historical Site. The neighborhood is characterized by quiet brick streets, shaded by stately old oak trees. Most homes are single family dwellings, usually with expansive lawns. Tony mansions, many of historic interest, line the waterfront.
