Pinellas Point Homes and Info
A Unique and Historic Neighborhood
Pinellas point is located at the very southern tip of the peninsula that forms the city of St. Petersburg. US 19 and 54th Ave. S form the eastern and northern boundaries while Boca Ciega Bay surrounds the rest of this unique place. An unusual feature of this quiet waterfront neighborhood are the pink streets, south of what is now 66th Ave S, laid down during the subdivision's development during the Florida Land Boom of the 1920s. The developer wanted to make his subdivision unusual and he certainly succeeded. Not so long ago, the old concrete streets became cracked and badly in need of repair. The city planned to replace the old pink pavement with new and nondescript materials. But the residents of Pinellas Point would have nothing of it. They successfully petitioned the city to keep the original color so this charming neighborhood's winding streets remain, and it will forever be known as "The Pink Streets."
