Roser Park Homes for Sale and Area Info
An Historic Neighborhood
Quiet, tree lined brick streets wind their way through the hilly terrain of one of St. Petersburg's most unusual and historic neighborhoods. Roser Park's boundaries are formed by 5th and 9th Streets S, and 6th and 11th Avenues S. The area dates back to a time before the Florida Land Boom of the 1920s and was the city's first residential subdivision outside of the adjacent Downtown Area. It is on the National Register of Historic Places and has a unique, quirky charm by virtue its unusual topography and the wide variety of architectural styles within it. These include Frame Vernacular, Bungalow, Prairie, Foursquare, Craftsman, Mediterranean Revival, Colonial Revival, Neoclassical, and Tudor Revival. The first developers of the area were advocates of the City Beautiful Movement, an early Twentieth Century urban planning effort which attempted to instill a sense of civic pride in a city's residents by aesthetically pleasing and site sensitive design. One of St. Petersburg's best kept secrets, Roser Park appears little changed from the early years of the last century.
