St Petersburg, The Sunshine City
St. Petersburg occupies most of a peninsula jutting out into the Gulf of Mexico, forming Tampa Bay. It is the largest city in area and population in Pinellas County. Across the Bay is neighboring Tampa. St. Pete, as the locals call it, is a medium sized city of approximately 245,000 residents, and it the fourth most populous city in the state. St. Petersburg, Tampa, and Clearwater form the vibrant and culturally diverse Tampa Bay Metro Area. The weather is near perfect and it is said that the sun shines over 360 days a year, earning the city the nickname "The Sunshine City."

St. Petersburg is justifiably famed for its miles of pristine beaches which have been consistently rated to be among the very best in the world. In fact, the Travel Channel recently named St. Pete Beach to be the number one beach destination in the entire country, based upon millions of reviews.
St Petersburg is A City Undergoing a Renaissance
Although once notorious for a population consisting primarily of retirees, St. Petersburg has been undergoing a youthful renaissance in the past few years. American Style magazine recently rated St. Petersburg as the number one mid-size city in 2011, citing its "vibrant arts scene." The new downtown restaurant, nightlife and bar scene complete the picture of city undergoing exciting changes.
St Petersburg Features An Abundance of Cultural and Sporting Choices
The new Downtown is also home to the Tampa Bay Rays baseball team and the St. Petersburg Grand Prix, an internationally renowned motor race for Indy cars. The Dali Museum, located on the city's Tampa Bay waterfront contains the largest collection of the famed surrealist's artwork in the United States. There is also a Museum of Fine Arts, a children's museum called Great Explorations, and the St. Petersburg Historical Museum.
